Team members from Brampton BJJ and Orangeville BJJ went to Miami this weekend to compete in the IBJJF Miami Open. Of the four competitors, we brought home 7 medals.
Shaun Rangoo - Gold and Silver
Andrew McColl - Gold and Bronze
Jake Smith - Silver and Silver
Ricky Romero - Bronze
Every one of these medals was hard earned. Congrats on the great work, guys.
Can’t even begin to express how proud I am of all the students from Brampton BJJ that competed in this year’s Ontario open. While we saw dominating performances from our students, earning gold medals in several divisions, what was most impressive was everyone’s individual successes. Over the past six months; one of these people lost over 50lbs; one went from being dominated in her division, to doing the dominating; one person went from being afraid to roll in training, to fighting several gruelling matches tooth and nail to the gold; several competed for their first time; one continues to just be an utter unstoppable force. I could go on for ever with this. But the point is, every one of them continue to improve in their own little ways every day, and that what this is all about. Great weekend Brampton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!

We couldn't be more proud of how they all performed on the big stage and we can't wait to return next year, bigger and stronger than ever.

The students at Brampton BJJ invest their time, money, and trust in our instructors and staff. Therefore, we see the importance of improving ourselves as instructors, Bjj practitioners, and people. This past weekend Brampton BJJ participated in the Jiu Jitsu For Life instructor's course and gathering. Not only did this give us the tools to become better teachers, but it also helped bring us together as Canada’s most prestigious BJJ organization. This weekend couldn’t have gone better and we’re all excited to continue to grow as Bjj practitioners, and more importantly, as influential members of our community.
We are proud to announce that Brampton BJJ's team, Jiu Jitsu for Life, won the best overall team at the 2018 Ontario Open, Canada's biggest BJJ tournaments. Great work guys and girls!! Check out the highlights from Brampton BJJ members here:

Jiu-Jitsu for Life competitor, Andrea Martyn, will be teaching a FREE women's only self-defense class on July 31st. Andrea is a decorated competitor who has won some of the biggest tournaments in the world, including the Brazilian Nationals and the European Championships. This class is completely free and has been developed for women who do not have any experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or self defense. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a practical self-defense that anyone can learn, it involves escaping vulnerable positions using technique and not strength.
At Brampton BJJ, we feel its important to give back to the community and empower those who are at-risk.
"It is a man’s responsibility to respect women and their boundaries. But until this day comes, we encourage women to learn self defense; not because it’s their responsibility, but because it’s their reality.”
